Yuni Vs. Seto

Have you ever wondered how a real life duel between Yuni and Seto might turn out? Here’s your chance to find out. My brother and I made two decks inspired by Yuni and Seto’s decks. Yuni got a Cyber-Tech deck based primarily off of Cyber-Tech Magician, and Seto basically got the same deck he uses in the story. For deck lists of the two decks, see below the duel.

 

Duel on!

Turn 1, Yuni:

Yuni sets a monster in facedown defense mode, sets two cards and ends his turn (Yuni’s hand: 3).

Turn 2, Seto:

Seto activates his Cosmic Force in order to add a level 5 or higher Cosmic or Plasma monster from his deck to his hand. He adds Plasma Wyvern. Since he controls no monsters, Seto summons Plasma Serpent, via its effect, without any tributes (Light/Level 5/Dragon/Effect/ATK 1800/DEF 2000). Seto tributes his level 5 Plasma Serpent to special summon Plasma Wyvern via its effect (Light/Level 7/Dragon/Effect/ATK 2600/DEF 2200). Seto has Plasma Wyvern attack Yuni’s facedown monster, which is Cyber-Tech Scout (Earth/Level 2/Machine/Effect/ATK 1000/DEF 1200). Yuni activates Cyber-Tech Scout’s effect, when its destroyed by battle, he can special summon a Cyber-Tech monster with 1500 or less ATK. Yuni summons Cyber-Tech Prime (Light/Level 1/Machine/Effect/ATK 0/DEF 0) in defense mode. Seto ends his turn (Seto’s hand: 4).

Turn 3, Yuni:

Yuni tributes Cyber-Tech Prime to activate its effect and special summon Cyber-Tech Magician  (Dark/Level 7/Spellcaster/Effect/ATK 2500/DEF 2100) from his hand. He sets a monster in facedown defense mode and sets a card (Yuni’s hand: 1).

Turn 4, Seto:

Seto activates Plasma Boost and banishes the Plasma Serpent in his grave to draw two cards. Seto sets two cards and attacks Cyber-Tech Magician with Plasma Wyvern. Yuni activates the effect of Cyber-Tech Prime in his graveyard and banishes it to negate the attack. Set oends his turn (Seto’s hand: 4).

Turn 5, Yuni:

Yuni activates Cyber Reinforcements in order to summon two Cyber Tokens (Earth/Level 1/Machine/Token/ATK 0/DEF 0). He tributes both of them to summon another Cyber-Tech Magician. Yuni activates Time Skip to increase his turn count by one.

Turn 7, Yuni:

Yuni evolves his first Cyber-Tech Magician into Temporax, the Cyber-Tech Magician of Time (Dark/Level 9/Spellcaster/Evolution/ATK 3500/DEF 3100). He uses its effect to negate the effect of Plasma Wyvern. He activates its second effect and activates a Cyber-Tech Spellbook of Strength straight from his deck and increases his Cyber-Tech Magician’s attack by 1000 (ATK: 3500). He flips his facedwon Cyber-Tech Enchanter (Dark/Level 4/Spellcaster/Effect/ATK 1800/DEF 0) into attack mode. Temporax attacks Plasma Wyvern, but Seto activates Plasma Phase Shift, which by discarding his Plasma Stream can prevent all level 5 or higher Plasma monsters from being destroyed by battle. Then, Seto activates Cosmic Calling, and reduces the damage he would take from the attack to zero, and adds a Cosmic Plasma Dragon from his deck to his hand. Cyber-Tech Magician attacks Plasma Wyvern (Seto’s LP: 3100). Cyber-Tech Enchanter uses its effect to attack directly, but the damage it causes is halved (Seto’s LP: 2200). Due to its effect, Cyber-Tech Enchanter gains a Spell Counter (Spell Counters: 1). Yuni ends his turn and Temporax devolves (Yuni’s hand: 0).

Turn 8, Seto:

Seto activates Plasma Flow and discards a Plasma Wyvern in order to special summon Cosmic Plasma Dragon from his hand (Light/Level 8/Dragon/Effect/ATK 3000/DEF 2500). Seto activates Plasma Matter and doubles the level of Cosmic Plasma Dragon (Level: 16). Due to its effect, Cosmic Plasma Dragon, gains 100 attack for each of its extra levels (ATK: 3800). Cosmic Plasma Dragon attacks the Cyber-Tech Magician with 3500 attack (Yuni’s LP: 3700). Due to its effect, Cosmic Plasma Dragon gains the level of the destroyed monster (Level: 23) (ATK: 4500). Plasma Wyvern attacks the other Cyber-Tech Magician (Yuni’s LP: 3600). Seto ends his turn (Seto’s hand: 1).

Turn 9, Yuni:

Yuni activates Cyber-Tech Reboot in order to add Cyber-Tech Scout from his grave to his hand. Yuni sets a monster. Yuni attacks directly with Cyber-Tech Enchanter, via its effect (Seto’s LP: 1300), and adds a Spell Counter (Counters: 2). Yuni ends his turn (Yuni’s hand: 1).

Turn 10, Seto:

Seto has both of his monster attack Cyber-Tech Enchanter, but Yuni activates its effect and pays 1000 life points for each attack to negate them and get two more Spell Counters (Yuni’s LP: 1600) (Spell Counters: 4). Seto end his turn (Seto’s hand: 2).

Turn 11, Yuni:

Yuni sets two cards, switches his Cyber-Tech Enchanter to defense mode and ends his turn (Yuni’s hand: 0).

Turn 12, Seto:

Seto summons Plasma Mage (Light/Level 4/Spellcaster/Effect/ATK 200/DEF 1800). The effect of Plasma Mage increases the level of all Plasma monsters by one (Cosmic Plasma Dragon’s level: 24) (Plasma Mage’s level: 5) (Plasma Wyvern’s level: 8). Since Seto controls a level five monster, he special summons Plasma Force from his hand (Light/Level 5/Fiend/Effect/ATK 2000/DEF 1400). Seto Overlays Plasma Force and Plasma Mage in order to Xyz summon Plasma Kaiser (Light/Rank 5/Warrior/Xyz/ATK 2400/DEF 2400). He activates its effect and removes both Overlay Unit to add Plasma Giant from his deck to his hand, which since he controls two level five or higher monsters, he special summons it (Light/Level 6/Pyro/Effect/ATK 2400/DEF 0). Seto attacks and destroys Cyber-Tech Enchanter with Plasma Giant. Plasma Wyvern attacks Yuni’s facedown monster, which is Cyber-Tech Scout, whose effect summons another Cyber-Tech Scout. Plasma Kaiser attacks the second Scout, which summons a third. Cosmic Plasma Dragon attacks the final Scout, which summons Cyber-Tech Prime. Cosmic Plasma Dragon gains two levels (Level: 26). Seto ends his turn.

Turn 13, Yuni:

Yuni activates Cyber-Tech Salvage, and banishes Cyber-Tech Scout in order to draw two cards. Yuni activates two copies of Cyber-Tech Reproduction in order to special summon two Cyber-Tech Magicians from his grave,but their effects are negated. Yuni activates Time Skip, and advances the turn count.

Turn 15, Yuni:

Yuni tributes his three monsters, who have been on the field for a total of six turns, to summon Chronos, the Temporal Lord (Divine/Level 10/Divine-Beast/Effect/ATK X000/DEF X000). Since seven of Yuni’s turns have passed, Chronos’ attack becomes 7000. Yuni activates the effect of Chronos to increase his turn count by two.

Turn 19, Yuni:

Chronos’ attack increases according (ATK: 9000). Chronos attacks Cosmic Plasma Dragon with Time Force Attack (Seto’s LP: 0) Yuni wins.

 

So there you have it! In a real duel, factoring in actual luck, Yuni wins! Was there ever any doubt?

Effect: Equip only to a Cyber-Tech Apprentice you control. If the equipped monster would be destroyed by battle while you control a Cyber-Tech Magician monster, negate the equipped cards destruction. If the equipped monster has been equipped with this card for one turn while a Cyber-Tech Magician monster is on the field, you can tribute the equipped monster in order to summon a Cyber-Tech Magician Girl from your deck.

Effect: Activate only if you control a level six or higher Plasma and/or Cosmic monster. Special summon three Plasma and/or Cosmic monsters from your graveyard. If any of these monsters are still on your side of the field by the end phase of the turn this card was activated, you take 3000 points of damage.

Plasma Barrier (x2)
Type: Counter
Effect: Activate when an effect targets a level 6 or higher Plasma monster. Negate the effect and destroy the card.

Plasma Phase Shift (x2)
Type: Normal
Effect: Discard one card. All level five or higher Plasma monsters you control cannot be destroyed by battle this turn.

Plasma Flare (x2)
Type: Normal
Effect: Activate when your opponent declares an attack against a Plasma monster. Destroy the attacking monster.

Cosmic Calling (x2)
Type: Normal
Effect: Activate only when you would take battle damage. Reduce all damage you would take to zero and add one Cosmic Plasma Dragon from your deck to your hand.

Requirements: 2 level 5 monsters
Effect: You may remove all Xyz units from this card to add one Plasma monster from your deck to your hand. If this card is destroyed by an effect, if all monsters used to Xyz summon this card are in the graveyard, you may special summon both of those monsters from your graveyard, but their attack and defense become 0, their effects are negated, and they can not be used as Xyz materials.

Type: Warrior/Synchro/Effect
Requirements: 1 Plasma tuner monster + 1 or  more Plasma non-tuner monsters
Effects: If this card battles a monster with a lower level than it, that monster loses 500 attack points during the damage step only. If this card is destroyed by battle, you can special summon one level 5 or higher Plasma monster from the graveyard except for Plasma Lord.
